Collier County, Fla. - December 2, 2015: The Collier County Supervisor of Elections office is proud to announce the winning artists for the 2015 Art for Democracy project: Angie E. Joseph, of Palmetto Ridge High School and the Poinciana Elementary School\'s Art Department.
A call for entries took place between October 1 and November 12 and students were challenged to create a piece of artwork that expresses the meaning of democracy. Among the 71 submitted works of art, 12 winning entries were selected to appear in an election-based calendar that will be distributed by the Supervisor of Elections office in 2016.
A reception for the winning artists will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, at the East Meets West Gallery located at the Bigham Galleria: 2425 Tamiami Trail, N. 34103.
The Supervisor of Elections office partnered with the Collier County Public Schools and the VFW Post 4254 and Golden Gate Post Number 7721 to make this event successful. For more information about the "Art for Democracy" project, please visit www.CollierVotes.com or call (239)252-VOTE.
