NEWS RELEASE: Voter Registration Books Close 29 Days Before Each Election

Naples, FL – Collier County residents planning to vote in the November 4th General Election MUST be registered by October 6, 2008. In accordance with Florida Statute 97.055, the registration books close on the 29th day before each election. Once the registration books are closed, voter registration and party changes may be accepted for the purpose of subsequent elections only.

To register, you must complete a voter registration application available at the Supervisor of Elections Office, driver license offices, public libraries, government satellite offices, state agencies that provide public assistance or visit the Supervisor of Elections Office Website at: www.CollierVotes.com for an on-line application. On-line applications must be printed, signed and returned to the Supervisor of Elections Office.

Eligible voters must be 18 years of age, US citizens, legal residents of the State of Florida and Collier County. Persons who have been convicted of any felony in any court and persons who have been found by a court in any state to be mentally incapacitated with respect to voting must have their right to vote restored before they are eligible to vote.
