Collier County, Fla.—December 11, 2020: The Collier County Supervisor of Elections office is proud to announce the winning artists of the 2020 Art for Democracy contest: Jessica Jaime Gomez of Palmetto Ridge High School is the winner of a $500 scholarship and the North Naples Middle School Art Department is the winner of a $500 award for winning “Best of Show” for the K-8 category.

A call for entries took place between October 1 and November 12, 2020 and students were challenged to create a piece of artwork that expressed the meaning of democracy. Among the 103 pieces of submitted art, 12 winning entries were selected to appear in 2021 Supervisor of Elections office publications including on the Supervisor of Elections’ website. The $500 awards are provided by Champions For Learning through the Chuck Mohlke Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of Collier County.  Mr. Mohlke left a legacy of respect, charity, kindness, and a commitment to civic engagement and a passion for learning.
