Collier County, Fla.—September 7, 2023: In an effort to encourage civic participation and empower the voices of the youth, Collier County Supervisor of Elections Melissa R. Blazier announces the launch of the 10th Annual High School Voter Registration Challenge. This unique initiative aims to engage high school students across Collier County in the electoral process by promoting voter registration and education.
"Engaging young people in elections from an early age is a vital step in ensuring our government is for the people elected by the people. We are thrilled to host this initiative and work closely with Collier County schools to make it a success,” Melissa R. Blazier, Collier County Supervisor of Elections.
The High School Voter Registration Challenge will kick off on September 13 and the following schools have already signed up to participate: Aubrey Rogers High School, First Baptist Academy, Golden Gate High School, Lely High School, Lorenzo Walker Technical College and Palmetto Ridge High school. During this period, participating schools will compete to achieve the highest voter registration among their eligible student population. The winning school will be awarded in a presentation by Melissa R. Blazier, Collier County Supervisor of Elections.
Registered voters must be US citizens and at least 18 years old. Students can pre-register to vote at 16 and 17 years old. Visit www.CollierVotes.gov to view past winners of the challenge and other upcoming voter outreach events.
