Students express the spirit of democracy
Collier County, Fla.— December 2, 2016: The Collier County Supervisor of Elections office is proud to announce the winning artists for the 2016 Art for Democracy project: Mo Palmer of Palmetto Ridge High School and the Gulfview Middle School’s Art Department.
A call for entries took place between October 6 and November 17 and students were challenged to create a piece of artwork that expresses the meaning of democracy. Among the 134 submitted works of art, six winning entries were selected to appear in election publications between 2017 and 2018.
A reception for the winning artists will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, at the Mary Martin Gallery of Fine Art located at 365 5th Avenue S. #101, Naples FL 34102.
The Supervisor of Elections office partnered with the Collier County Public Schools and Champions For Learning during this year’s program. For more information about the Art for Democracy project, please visit www.CollierVotes.com or call (239) 252-VOTE.
