NEWS RELEASE: Collier County Supervisor of Elections Begins First Mailing of Mail/Absentee Ballots for the Everglades City Election

Collier County, Fla.-October 21, 2013:The Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office will send its first mailing of mail/absentee ballots tomorrow, October 22, for the upcoming Everglades City Election on November 26, 2013.

Voters may submit requests online at www.CollierVotes.com under the "Vote by Mail" tab. Requests can also be made by phone to the Supervisor of Elections Office at (239) 252-VOTE (8683). By law, mail/absentee ballots are not forwarded and can only be delivered to the address provided to the Supervisor of Elections Office.

The deadline for voters to request an absentee ballot to be delivered by mail for the 2013 Everglades City Election is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. After that date, voters can pick up their absentee ballots at Everglades City Hall after calling in their request.

Voted absentee ballots must be returned to Everglades City Hall by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 26, 2013. Ballots can be dropped off at Everglades City Hall, or may be mailed back in the official ballot envelope provided. The voter\'s signature is required on the outside of the ballot return envelope.

Voters who receive a mail/absentee ballot and decide to vote in person on Election Day should bring their marked or unmarked mail/absentee ballot to their polling location so it can be cancelled.

Citizens who are eligible to vote in this election must be registered by 12:00 a.m. October 28, 2013 in order to cast their vote.
