Getting Students Involved in the Electoral Process!
Collier County, FL— October 4, 2013: The results are in, and with 238 voter registration forms received, Palmetto Ridge High School is the winner of the First Annual High School Voter Registration Challenge.
The 10 Collier County High Schools who took part in the challenge were: Immokalee High School, Palmetto Ridge High School, Lely High School, Lorenzo Walker Technical High School, Naples High School, Barron Collier High School, Golden Gate High School, Gulf Coast High School, St. John Neumann, and Community School Naples.
Lely High School placed as runner-up in the challenge with a 28% registration rate among students.
The Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office received over 700 registrations and pre-registrations collectively from all of the schools who participated. Supervisor of Elections, Jennifer J. Edwards, will be appearing at Palmetto Ridge High School on Tuesday, October 8 to present an award to Palmetto Ridge High School for their outstanding achievement.
The Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office continues to strengthen its partnerships with Collier County schools and looks forward to continuing this voter registration challenge in the future to engage students in the electoral process.
