PUBLIC NOTICE: City of Marco Island Notice of Referendum - Salary Change
NOTICE OF REFERENDUM
MARCO ISLAND, FLORIDA
Notice is hereby given that a referendum question has been placed on the ballot to coincide with the Presidential Preference Primary election, to be held within the City of Marco Island on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at which time the following ballot question shall be submitted to the qualified electors of Marco Island:

THE SALARY FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS SHALL BE INCREASED AND INCLUDE A COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT
The City Charter currently provides for salary for all members of the City Council, and has not been adjusted since 1997. Shall the salary for the Chairman be increased from $9,000 to $17,200 per year, and the salary for Councilors be increased from $6,000 to $11,500 per year commencing with the 2026-27 Fiscal Year, and thereafter provide for an annual general wage adjustment equal to the cost of living provided to City employees.

Por este medio se da aviso de que se ha colocado en la boleta una pregunta de referendo para coincidir con la elección Primaria de Preferencia Presidencial, a llevarse a cabo dentro de la Ciudad de Marco Island el Martes 19 de Marzo del 2024, entre las horas de 7 a.m. y 7 p.m. en cuyo momento se presentará la siguiente propuesta a los electores calificados de Marco Island:

EL SALARIO DE LOS FUNCIONARIOS ELECTOS TENDRÁ UN AUMENTO E INCLUIRÁ AJUSTES DE ACUERDO CON EL COSTO DE VIDA
Actualmente, todos los miembros del Concejo Municipal reciben un salario de acuerdo con los Estatutos de la Ciudad de Marco Island, y dicho salario no ha tenido ningún ajuste desde 1997. El salario del Presidente del Concejo se aumentará de $9,000 a $17,200 al año, y el salario de los otros miembros de Consejo se aumentará de $6,000 a $11,500 al año a partir del año fiscal 2026-27 y, posteriormente, se establecerá un ajuste salarial general anual igual al proporcionado a los empleados de la Ciudad de acuerdo con el cambio en el costo de vida.
