PUBLIC NOTICE: City of Marco Island Notice of Referendum - Title Change

NOTICE OF REFERENDUM
MARCO ISLAND, FLORIDA

Notice is hereby given that a referendum question has been placed on the ballot to coincide with the Presidential Preference Primary election, to be held within the City of Marco Island on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at which time the following ballot question shall be submitted to the qualified electors of Marco Island:

THE TITLE OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE-CHAIRMAN SHALL BE CHANGED TO MAYOR AND VICE-MAYOR

The City Charter currently refers to the Chief Elected Officials for the City of Marco Island as Chairman and Vice-Chairman selected by the City Council every year. Should the City Charter be amended to provide that the reference to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman be changed to Mayor and Vice-Mayor, with no changes to current powers and authority, term limits, or eligibility.

Por este medio se da aviso de que se ha colocado en la boleta una pregunta de referendo para coincidir con la elección Primaria de Preferencia Presidencial, a llevarse a cabo dentro de la Ciudad de Marco Island el Martes 19 de Marzo del 2024, entre las horas de 7 a.m. y 7 p.m. en cuyo momento se presentará la siguiente propuesta a los electores calificados de Marco Island:

LOS TÍTULOS DE PRESIDENTE Y VICE-PRESIDENTE DEL CONCEJO MUNICIPAL SE CAMBIARÁN A ALCALDE Y VICE-ALCALDE 

Actualmente, los estatutos de la Ciudad de Marco Island se refieren a los funcionarios electos principales de la ciudad como el Presidente y Vice-Presidente y son elegidos por el Concejo Municipal cada año. Se debería modificar dicho Estatuto de la Ciudad para cambiar los títulos de Presidente y Vice-Presidente a Alcalde y Vice-Alcalde, sin incluir cambios en sus poderes y autoridad actuales, ni en los límites del periodo de tiempo electos o la elegibilidad.
